I try to take a road trip every year if possible. Whether it's as part of a group trip with five or six other people, arranged by a fellow kindred spirit, or a long, transcontinental solo trip, it's good to take some time to get away from things back home and explore. In my early road tripping years, I sent back travelogues to co-workers and a few other choice people detailing the high points of my travels and including photo illustrations taken using various cameras of the day. Later, I uploaded some photos and descriptions to my various (now deleted) social media accounts. In all cases, what was sent back was hastily edited on a laptop or uploaded directly to social media via wifi. I ultimately stopped sending the travelogues because of the effort involved, and grew tired of the pressure to make social media uploads for people back home to follow along. Who wants to spend time poring over material for the internet when they're supposed to be on vacation?
These new travelogues document the things I've seen and the places I've been while on the road, put together at a time and place far more conducive to their creation. They provide an account of my adventures over the years as documented using whatever I had available to me at the time - be it 35mm film, digital point-and-shoot cameras, or various cell phones and of course DSLRs. I'll continue to add to and update these with any additional trips I may make in the future.
