In early spring 2003, I made my first real road trip at the age of 24. Although I didn't go to New Orleans specifically for Jazz Fest, I took advantage of the occasion while I was there to do a few things. Over a period of four days and four nights in the city, I spent some time in the French Quarter, visiting the Louisiana Music Factory, seeing some live jazz and zydeco bands, exploring the area near the St. Louis Cathedral, and enjoying dinner in a restaurant. I also did some exploration near the convention center and Garden District. And on my last night in the city, I fell in with a street vendor who had gotten stranded in the city while hitchhiking cross country. I spent that evening into the night with her and some locals who had taken up temporary residence in Bourbon Street's residential area. In 2003 I was armed with a 1969 manual 35mm SLR camera and some rolls of mostly B&W film, and while in New Orleans I managed to snap a healthy collection of photos. The best of those are featured here.
