With the recent heavily researched, long gestating content I've put up recently (and with more still on the way), it's time to take a step back from high effort material. I've been thinking for some time that I should get around to recounting my days in the local music scene, specifically my nine-ish years spent as a photographer of local bands. There are references to those days all over this website, and curated examples of my work from that time period are easily accessible via my Live Photography galleries. But I've never taken the time to tell the tale in full and to discuss how I got into the scene, who my principal collaborators were while I was in it, and why I eventually ended up leaving it. I've decided that now is the time for that story to be told.

Like everyone else, I've spent my fair share of time having to make use of public and private facilities away from home. Here are some of the more interesting things - none of them disgusting! - that I've encountered.

Deep Ellum bathroom

Adair's Saloon was never a venue I frequented during my concert photography days, but I did end up on the inside once or twice. The scrawled graffiti covering the bathroom walls presented a masterclass in how to create a gritty, dirty scene just ripe for some urban decay photography.

I'm known to my associates as a road trip guy, and I have put a lot of miles on cars over the years. While going through my archives of old photos to prepare for a future blog series, I hit upon the idea of assembling some of them into a chronological history of my various vehicles.
